There are so many great places to go on a first date, all you have to do is think outside the box. If you’re anything like the modern day single woman, you’ve been on tons of dates. Like Charlotte in Sex and the City said, “I've been dating since I was fifteen. I'm exhausted.” First dates, especially in the wrong location, can be daunting and dull. Sitting silently in a movie theater or nervously finding conversation in a restaurant are a dime a dozen. How boring! Luck for you, Cupid’s Cronies has compiled a list of 8 best places to go on a first date, so you can stop feeling exhausted and start feeling exhilarated.

1. Picnic in the Park

Pack a lunch, grab some wine (or craft beer) and head to the local park with your date. Sitting there together under the trees admiring the view is so much more romantic than the generic dinner and a movie date.

2. Take a Music Lesson Together

As the great William Shakespeare once said, “If music be the food of love, play on.” Over the ages people have always bonded over music. Why not go on a date and make some music together? You’ll soon see if there is harmony...or if there’s not.

3. Romance on Horseback

Giddy up. A romantic stroll on horseback is fun, exciting, and sure to be a date to remember. Whether it’s your first time on a horse or you are an accomplished rider, going horse riding is thinking outside the box. Plus you can imagine your date as your knight in shining armor.

4. Specialty or Quirky Coffee House

Starbucks is so 2008. The new trend in town is the small, independent coffee shop. Seek out your local coffee shop, the one with character, quirky paintings, and interesting books to read. If you and your date have a love for caffeine and supporting local business, the independent coffee house is an ideal first date!

5. Live Music or Your Favorite Band

First dates are good time to establish some common ground. For example, if you like opera music and he likes Metallica, you might not see eye to eye. But if you have similar music tastes, check out a live music venue or go to a concert together. You can sing along to your favorite band or discover new music that you might not have heard about before.

6. A Sporting Event

Put on your fan gear, grabs some cold beers and go tailgating together! In a recent survey, 36% of people said they would love to go to a sporting event for their first date. Watching sports together (whether you are rooting for the same team or opposite team) is a great way to raise the adrenaline and endorphins. You will leave the game knowing each other better and filled with energy -- here’s hoping your team wins.

7. Try Something You’ve Never Done Before

Always wanted to go sky diving? Never been on a hot air balloon? There’s no time like the present. Grab your date and head on an adventurous first date. That will surely be something you can share with the grandkids.

8. Doggie Date

If you’re a doggie mom and he’s a doggie dad, why not introduce the pooches? Take your dogs to the local dog park and get to know each other as you play with the dogs. Dogs are a great judge of character! If your dog loves him, maybe you will too.
