Cities, even with their huge numbers of things to do, places to visit and people to meet, somehow seem to top the list of the hardest places to meet someone. Maybe it’s because there are too many choices. In a place like Miami, with countless numbers of bars, restaurants, and clubs, it is difficult to narrow all of that down to one place, to find one person that you make a connection with. Luckily, there is still hope for you Floridians! Cupid’s Cronies is here to relay some promising research and factoids to help you to get your mind on a more positive note about dating in your city by the sea.
First of all, there are a few tips that everyone trying to date in Miami (or any large city, really) should be aware of and take into account when they are trying to meet someone:
- Do not limit yourself to places like bars and clubs to meet someone. It is easy to think that these are the only places that singles go to, but actually, the people that are probably looking for more than just a hook-up are bound to be found in other places. Start by going to things that interest you. If you like classical music, go to a concert; if you like art, go to a gallery, and if you like sports, attend a Heat game. You’ll be more comfortable at somewhere you actually enjoy than a new bar or club that you only went to because it’s supposed have a lot of singles.
- Be yourself. If you don’t feel comfortable dressing with tons of cleavage showing and a super tight skirt on, then don’t. That may very well be what you see out at the clubs, but that doesn’t mean that you should do that. Whatever you wear or do, just be yourself. You’ll be more likely to find a compatible partner being yourself than if you are pretending to be something you’re not.
- Be optimistic. It is true that you are not going to find your prince (or princess) the first time that you attempt to strike up conversation with someone. However, if you keep your attitude positive and approach every situation with a smile on your face, you are going to seem like a more attractive and outgoing person. So even if you’re feeling down, don’t let that ruin your outlook on dating.
Because optimism is such an important piece to dating, no matter where you are, we thought we’d bring you some research to show just how optimistic you can be about living in Miami:
Miami was named one of the five cities with the least picky women by AYI.com in 2013. This is great news for men. The study was done by sending online messages to women in multiple cities, and seeing how many responses they got back. Miami women seemed to be some who responded the most, which the website claims means that they are the least picky about who they are dating.
Miami was ranked as one of the best cities for dating in 2012 by Yahoo! Travel. This is great news for both men and women. Yahoo! Travel reasoned that Miami has amazing beaches, restaurants and other attractions for dating. Not bad, Miami.
So Miami, before you throw in the towel on dating, make sure you are following some of these tips, and keep that sunny outlook!
