Montana is every nature lovers’ dream. From the crisp air to the peaking mountains and valleys, to the extraordinary wildlife, the state comes alive in the summertime. There’s romance in the air and if you’re planning your next rendezvous, you won’t have to look too hard. Montana offers a great array of summer date ideas. We’ve gathered just a few:
The Great Outdoors
Grab your hiking boots and a picnic lunch and head to Glacier National Park, “one of the most intact ecosystems anywhere in the earth’s temperate zone.” There will be plenty of time to chat and get to know your date as you drive across the 80-km Going to the Sun Road, which offers the chance to spot black bears, moose, elk and even mountain lions. The breath-taking National park offers over 1,100 km of hiking trails.
Act Like a Tourist
You’ve done it as a kid, but going as an adult is much more fun! Act like a tourist and take a trip to Yellowstone National Park’s north entrance at Gardiner. You and your date can take selfies in front of the iconic Roosevelt Arch, which dates back to 1903. Once at the park, get adventurous and go whitewater rafting on Yellowstone River, take a zip line tour, or enjoy a short nature hike. If you are less sporty, you can arrange for a wildlife or scenic tour with your date.
Artsy Types and History Buffs
If you and your date have a love for art, an art tour is a great date idea. Consider taking your date to the Yellowstone Art Museum or Missoula Art Museum, which have new galleries all the time. Or plan for a day out at the Sunrise Festivals of the Arts in Sidney. History buffs can enjoy a trip to Nevada City or Virginia City, which are only one mile apart, for an authentic experience of what life was like in the wild west. If you both love music, there are so many great summer festivals, such as the 3-day Total Fest in Missoula, Milk River Days and Cowboys Rodeo in Hinsdale.
No matter what you and your date decide to do, Montana will always be sure to offer a scenic backdrop.
